My Story

Believe it or not, I wasn’t into much sports as a child or young teenager. I used to run track and field, but didn’t get anywhere far with it in school. As I got into my teenage years I didn’t care much about health or fitness however, I started to witness the toll that ill health played. Many close family members became ill due to not taking good care of themselves, and there was a wide variety of diseases found within my family health history. My grandfather had diabetes and passed away from a heart attack. My father also had diabetes, and suffered a major stroke that left him paralyzed and unable to speak regularly. I was the one that found him having the stroke- a day I will never forget.

I knew I had to make a change and do better. I started going to the gym, and once I saw and felt the progress I was instantly hooked. The gym became my stress relief. It became the way I could take control of my life, and my wellbeing. This lifestyle change taught me how to prioritize, how to manage my time, how to be disciplined, and how to love myself. I’ve learned there is so much to fitness than just the physical.

Over a year ago my mother was diagnosed with cancer. She was the strongest, and bravest woman I’ve ever known. My family and I struggled as we watched her grow weaker and weaker. Although her body was giving up on her, she remained extremely head strong. At some points, she was more psychologically stable than I was. A few months ago, my mother lost her battle to cancer.

I realized how precious and valuable time is. After losing my mom, I decided to leave my steady 9-5 office job and pursue what I am most passionate about.
